Our History
In the spring of 2019, five friends attending Cal Poly were inspired during Poly Cultural Weekend (PCW) to create an organization empowering Latinx students on campus. Jenny, Chuy, Emilio, Juan and Adriana established the Latinx Cultural Association (LCA) to provide an inclusive space for students to celebrate their heritage and foster a sense of belonging. Through their hard work and dedication, LCA quickly gained popularity and became a hub for cultural exchange, hosting events and socials that attracted diverse students. The organization profoundly impacted the campus, uniting Latinx students and creating a supportive community. Over the years, LCA continued to thrive and evolve, inspiring students to embrace their heritage and make a difference in their communities. The story of LCA showcases the transformative power of a small group of passionate individuals and their lasting legacy on Cal Poly's campus.

Our Colors
The Latinx Cultural Association (LCA) proudly represents itself with black, white, and gold colors, which hold significant meaning and symbolism for the organization. Black and white symbolize inclusivity, unity, and the absorption and reflection of all colors, reflecting LCA's goal of creating a space where individuals from diverse Latin American backgrounds can come together and celebrate their cultures. These colors also represent the interplay between light and darkness, honoring the challenges and triumphs of Latinx communities while recognizing their resilience. In addition, black and white align with LCA's commitment to social justice and equality, transcending cultural boundaries and embracing people of all backgrounds and identities. The addition of gold adds elegance and represents the invaluable cultural contributions of Latin American countries and regions throughout history. These colors together symbolize the diversity, cultural awareness, and appreciation that LCA fosters, promoting unity and belonging while celebrating the richness and diversity of Latin American cultures.
